2010 Korea Traditional Performing Arts Festival

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has been organizing the "Korea Traditional Performing Arts Festival" every September, for the past 3 years, showcasing 30 or more performances. The best 5 performances are carefully selected by considering the quality and audience response, including the one that won the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award. Their performance will be presented to you through the 'Traditional Performance of Korea' in the stages at Seoul, Namwon, and Busan in 2010.

The traditional performing arts of Korea is a composite art which includes music, song, and dance represented in 'Namsadangnori (Performances of Travelling Entertainers), tightrope dance, masked dance, puppet play, folk music, exorcism performance, dance, and singing' and also covers dramatic elements. Korean nation maintained the overall artistic values of traditional performing arts and the optimistic attitude of life and continuously gave the rebirth to them through modern senses.

In Busan, the performace will be held every Tuesday(7/6~8/17) at ¡®The national center for Korean Traditional performing arts in Busan¡¯

2010 Busan Sea Festival Opens on August 1, 2010

The 15th Busan Sea Festival, will be held at the most popular beaches in Busan, starting August 1st, with an opening ceremony and congratulatory performances. It will be organized over a nine-day period in Haeundae. Gwangalli, and four other beaches in Busan, the sea festival features a variety of events including the opening ceremony, international programs, performances, hands-on events, and water sports competitions such as the national yacht competition, a beach volleyball competition, and a sea fin swimming competition.

The festival consisting of forty programs and high-quality cultural performances provides the romance and pleasure of a resort city, Busan to the residents as well as tourists.

Going on concurrently in Busan will be two other major events: the 3rd International Hip Hop Festival, which kicks off with a fabulous fireworks display and features 264 dancers from eight countries, and the 5th International Magic Festival which is anticipating the participation of 50 magicians from 7 countries.

Also, the 8th Busan International Rock Festival is expected to rock Busan¡¯s Dadaepo Beach this coming August 6-8, like it never has before. This two-day festival is held at this beach every year, and its underlying theme is ¡®Ocean, Youth, and People,¡¯ which is famous for creating fun and exciting summer nights. This year, various musicians from the United States, England, Germany, Japan, and Korea will perform at the festival. This festival is the world¡¯s only seaside venue that have live concerts and some of the world¡¯s finest rock musicians, all free-of-charge.

Busan International Magic Festival

The BIMF (Busan International Magic Festival) will open Wednesday, August 4th through Sunday, August 8th at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO).

About 50 famous magicians from ten countries including the United States, France, Canada and Japan will perform. Celebrating its third year, the event will start with a gala opening ceremony at Haeundae Beach at 8 p.m.

BIMF includes various events such as ¡®Daytime & night magic gala show¡¯, ¡®Trick art exhibition¡¯, ¡®Special dealer booth about magic tools¡¯.

The event brings together world-famous magicians and amateur local talent to foster business and cultural exchanges.
