The EUCCK Financial Services Committees organized the 3rd International Financial Services Seminar on June 17th.

The impact of the financial services sector on society and the environment derives from the capital it employs – from financing infrastructure projects in developing nations to providing low-interest loans to small businesses – with effects that can change the risk profiles of borrowers and lenders.

2.Mr. Kim Bong-soo, Chairman and CEO of Korea Exchange (KRX)
The 3rd International Financial Services Seminar focused on Corporate Social Responsibility within the financial sector as well as the different mechanisms developed by the financial markets with special impact on the environment and social development.
The Seminar received congratulations from Mr. Michael Baek on behalf of Korea Financial Association (KOFIA) and was welcomed by Mr. Lee Hoi-seung, Director of International Financial Hub Division of Seoul Metropolitan Government, who furthermore offered some insights regarding government's efforts to build up Seoul as a Financial Hub. The Seminar gathered people from the financial, industrial and governmental sectors attracted by well known speakers not just in Korea but also internationally.
The Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) Mr. Kim Jong-chang and other important players of the Korean and world financial markets shared their views around the needs and importance of the roll played by financial institutions not only as intermediaries but also as a force able to contribute for a world with better opportunities for everybody.
Mr. Kim Bong-soo, Chairman and CEO of Korea Exchange (KRX), addressed the luncheon section with a speech on the current condition and challenges faced by KRX in Korea and Internationally as well as its plans to develope the Emission Trade Scheme (ETS) in Korea in its intention of strength its leadership in the world's financial market.

The other seminar speakers included: Mr. Kim Jong-chang, Governor FSS; Mr. Koh Seung-beom, Director General of Financial Services Bureau of Financial Services Commission (FSC); Mr. Yun Yong, Director of Green Technology and Industry Team, Presidential Committee on Green Growth; Mr. Richard Hill, President and CEO Standard Chartered as well as EUCCK Banking Committee Chairman (moderator); Mr. Jeroen Plag, Country Manager, ING Bank Korea as well as EUCCK Banking Committee Vice-Chairman; Mr. Jonathan Forster, Senior Asset Manager, IMPAX Asset Management; Mr. Philippe Rossier, President of Rodia and Orbeo; Mr. Kim Bong-soo, Chairman and CEO KRX and Mr. Kim In-soo, Executive Director of the Derivatives Market Division.
